Beal Racing Goes Top Fuel Racing

Brandon Welch and team will debut a new top fuel dragster in 2019

San Diego, CA — Beal Racing is going top fuel dragster racing. After more than two decades competing in nitro funny car, owners Brandon Welch and Tyson Porlas made the decision to switch to top fuel. To the lifelong funny car racers, the decision to switch to the ‘other’ nitro class seemed like a natural one.

“After we ran a tribute race to Chuck Beal at the 2018 Winternationals, we felt it was time to open a new chapter for Beal Racing,” said co-owner Tyson Porlas. “We have the guidance of master top fuel tuner, Scott Graham, so the switch to top fuel was a natural fit.”

The addition of veteran tuner, Graham, to the team along with a state-of-the-art chassis is sure to give driver and co-owner, Brandon Welch, a running start.

“My number one motivation is to win races,” said Welch. “We spared no expense getting a fresh Kalitta car, we have a great tuner with a proven track record, and we’re ready to go racing.”

The team will spend the first few months of 2019 assembling their new race car and making the necessary runs to crossgrade Welch’s license from funny car to top fuel. Brandon Welch will make his NHRA Mello Yello Series top fuel debut in the second half of 2019.
